My name is Borja Obeso (Its pronounced B o r H a as in hhhamburger), i’m the founder here and this site is about how to grow any business trough digital mediums (Get ready for a bunch of Buzzwords)
What I do here
I interview CEO’s, marketing experts and Startup founders on my podcast. I also share what i’ve learned about online marketing and business on the show and on my blog (a work in progress).
I have learned all of these things from creating projects like CreativiU, an online learning platform for arts, crafts and other creative topics.
I also used to own a Carwash back in 2009 – 2010 (not fun at all).
I got introduced to the online business world back in 2010/2011 (pardon my bad memory) when I was working for a tourism related Startup.
The guy that hired me (really nice guy btw), brought me in for an interview and asked me:
“So Borja, do you know anything about SEO or HTML tags”
Me: “mmm, yeah absolutely!” (Liar)
Him: “Cool, you can help us get clients searching for these keywords then…”
Me: “Oh yeah, keywords, duh!” (Again, totally lost)
I didn’t know squad, and he knew it. But I guess they were in a hurry, so they hired me!
I went home and ate all of the information I could find about SEO, SMO (which isn’t even a term used nowadays), Social Media, Paid Advertising and all that jazz.
I also tried to teach myself HTML, CSS, PHP and photoshop in a couple of weeks!
Bad idea, great recipe for information overload. Plus I quickly found out I didn’t needed to learn how to code (But I did anyway). A classic rookie mistake. If you ask my wife she’ll tell you it’s because i’m a Scorpio, whatever that means.
Fast forward a year after being hired, I learned a TON LOAD of things about online marketing and started applying them to side-projects and niche websites (Sounds fancy huh?)
I quit my job thanks to that nice extra income.
Kept doing more and more and eventually started this site as a fun thing, just to keep track of what I learnt (and to let my noisy aunts know I wasn’t selling drugs for money, working from home all day).
Started the podcast because “it was hip”, everyone else was doing it… nah, I actually wanted to make some connections, learn directly from the very best.
Luckily, it turned out great.
See you around!
